Nils Aukan is 55 years of age and started diving in 1965.
He has been diving in 34 years, passing 3000 dives. He
has dived mostly in all countries in Scandinavia, but also in the Carribean,
Canary islands, Ireland, Mediteranian, Red sea, and the Maldives in the
Indian ocean. He started taking underwater pictures in 1968, and
has worked since 1971 in marin-archaeological expeditions.. A book
is almost finished concerning marin-archaelogical wrecks and artifacts
in Norway and Sweden. He has also great interest in marin-biology,
and published different stories in scandinavian diving magazines.
As a working-diver he has performed difficult tasks under ice and in underwater
tunnels in mountain lakes as well as photo-documentations after ship-disasters.
He has joined different underwater photo-competitions, and received
44 medals of honour in Scandinavia, as well as some medals in international
events. In 1985 he got gold medal in CMAS grand Prix, black and white.
In 1992 he got Bronze medal in macro class in CMAS photo-Sub World Championships
at Cuba.
The camera-equipment he use is a wide arrangement of lenses for Nikon
801s, Nikon F-90 in Subal-housings and 2 Nikonos III with 15mm. lenses.
Different strobes is used as Ikelite 200, Dyfo, and Subatec.
